06/14/2005 Exercise Bike Nibbles
Woohoo, finally, some software to go with our hardware! Now that we've got the bike hooked up, it's time to make it do something not bikey. Controlling video games seems like a good first project. Everyone loves video games!

So, what game to make? Well, first off, we wanted something simple, since this is a tutorial. The first idea was Tron Light Cycles, 'cause, well, exercise bike, light cycles, you get it. Unfortunatly, we only have one bike to work on right now, meaning we'd either have to program AI or else add outside buttons for a second player. Neither of these is a problem, but why go with the cool game when you can go with the easy one?

Nibbles it is.
05/11/2005 Wiring up the Stamina 4700R Exercise Bike
The Stamina 4700R Silent Magnetic Recumbent Exercise Bike is a sexy little number that will have all the [insert opposite sex of reader, or same sex, or whatever the hell you kids are into these days] turning their heads from the second you get your big ol' ass on it. Featuring multiple resistence levels through its silent "Magnetic Resistance" feature (read: It's a screw with a magnet on it, for christ sake) and a start of the art LCD display, you can wash those pounds away in style on its "Match your crappy rental house carpet" beige frame.
03/27/2005 Hooking Up Your Xport/XRC/XBC to a Gamecube
Staring at an old GBA screen all day (due to the fact that you blew up your GBA SP) can wreck havoc on your eyes. So, why not hook it up to a TV out? You can pick up a GBA Player for the Gamecube that will allow you to play Gameboy Advance games on your TV. Using this, you can develop on your xport using a TV (or a TV card in your computer, like I do).

Second Life Projects

Second Life is a virtual world created by Linden Lab. Unlike MMORPGs, Second Life allows users to create structures and objects with no final goal or task to achieve, making a new creative space with shops, games, meeting places, and anything else a user can think of. A full programming languages is provided in order to interact with the world, with mechanisms such as Email and XML-RPC in place in order to talk to people and things in "First Life". Nonpolynomial Labs uses Second Life as a rapid application development environment for interaction and immersive environment projects, as well as a place to explore and learn new things.

09/30/2005 LifeCycle v1.0: First Life Locomotion in Second Life
The bicycle is used around the world for cheap, self-powered transportation, and has embedded itself into many interesting contextual situations. Romantic ideas such as biking through the park or using paddle boats, the thrill of the Tour De France, the metaphor of training wheels, are all based on bicycles. Using the LifeCycle, users will now be able to move themselves from place to place in the Second Life world using a stationary exercise bike.
09/08/2005 Hooky: Input Injection in Second Life
Second Life comes with 2 control mechanisms; keyboard and mouse. There's very little problem getting around in the world with these two methods. However, at Nonpolynomial Labs we believe that input can be as much part of the world as the client itself. Out of that idea grew Hooky, an input injector for Second Life.
09/04/2005 EyeSore: Real Time 3D Projection with Second Life
Ever wanted to fly through a virtual world with more detail than a simple 3D API can provide? Using polarized material and video projectors, we set up a way to view the Second Life world in 3D.
